A few of our favourite (Derbyshire) things…
We are lucky enough to live in beautiful Derbyshire, a county rich in small creative and artisan businesses. There are so many businesses to choose from, but here are a few of our favourites…
The Loaf
The Loaf is a vibrant bakery, cafe and deli in the hilltop village of Crich. Alongside running the bakery, Head Baker Andrew also runs his very popular artisan bread-baking courses in The Bakehouse.
If you are in the county plan a visit here for lunch and pick up a delicious sour dough, rye or ciabatta, all made by Andrew and his small team of bakers.
Ink & Thread is a burst of colour in the heart of Derby’s historic Cathedral Quarter. Emily who owns the shop sources wonderful cards, stationery,Monogrammed Note Cards, prints and textiles from small, British, creative companies for her store on The Strand.
Emily says that Ink & Thread is about colour, bright, bold design and items which have been well designed and well made.
Hackwood Farm
Hackwood Farm is an award-winning butchery, deli, farm shop and tea rooms in the small rural village of Radbourne. There’s always a fabulous range of deli goods, home-cooked meals to take away, door-step sandwiches and delicious cakes on offer. And when you can’t eat another morsal there are farm animals to pet and rural walks on the doorstep – including a map on the website to a circular walk from the farm.
This working farm also has a traditional orchard where the range of old variety apple, pear and damson trees are harvested to produce homemade jams, chutneys, pies and crumbles.
Just a few of Derbyshire’s delights to explore and enjoy!
